At the tender age of 19, Devon’s life took a pivotal turn when his grandfather, Nick Bailey, a respected figure in Idyllwild known for owning the Idyllwild Design Center and possessing two cabins in Pine Cove, invited him to the mountain community. This invitation was more than just a change of scenery; it was a chance for Devon to find direction and purpose in his life, alongside his mother who was on her own path of rebuilding.
Tragedy struck in 2016 when Devon’s grandfather passed away unexpectedly. The subsequent sale of the cabins left Devon and his side of the family with virtually nothing but memories and his grandfather’s truck — a symbol of Nick’s legacy. Undeterred and fueled by an unwavering resolve, Devon embarked on a journey to honor his grandfather’s memory in a manner most fitting.
Building a Dream on the Foundation of Legacy
With merely a $300 rug doctor from his grandfather’s garage as his initial investment, Devon set out to establish a carpet cleaning business in Idyllwild. What began with cleaning for friends and neighbors quickly escalated to servicing businesses, homeowners’ cabins, and vacation rentals around the mountain. His relentless work ethic was evident as he juggled jobs at local restaurants like Cafe Aroma, Mile High Cafe, and The Gastrognome to support his burgeoning enterprise.
Fast forward to 2024, Devon, now 28, is a familiar sight in Idyllwild, driving his grandfather’s red truck and transforming spaces with his signature energy and expertise. His humble beginnings with a rudimentary cleaning machine have evolved into a successful operation featuring a truck-mounted unit capable of delivering blazing hot steam for carpet, upholstery, tile & grout, mattress cleaning, and even flood remediation and carpet installation.
